Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Er. Gulam Ali Khatana on Wednesday strongly condemned the resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly calling for the restoration of Article 370.
In a statement to the media, Khatana accused the National Conference (NC) and its allies of misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Article 370 was abrogated by the Indian Parliament, and this decision was upheld by the Supreme Court. A Union Territory government has no authority over decisions made by Parliament or validated by the judiciary,” he said.
Khatana further criticized the resolution, stating that it was designed to serve the interests of a select few political families, rather than the broader population of Jammu and Kashmir. “This resolution is not for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It is meant for the political families who have long controlled the region. This move will only lead to more suffering, expanding graveyards and leaving behind orphaned children, instead of securing peace and prosperity,” Khatana asserted.
He emphasized that the resolution was a calculated attempt to manipulate public sentiment and create political turmoil in the region.
