As many as 12 people were killed on Monday in a major bus accident in Khalghat of Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. The bus fell into the Narmada while breaking the railing of the two-lane bridge at Khalghat of Dhamnod.

“Twelve people died, and 15 people have been rescued. The bus was enroute from Indore to Pune,” said MP Minister Narottam Mishra.

According to the information, the bus was carrying 55 people from Indore to Pune. The bus lost control of the Khalghat Sanjay Setu bridge, which fell into the Narmada river 25 feet below. At present, the process of evacuating is going on.

Meanwhile, with divers’ help, the Dhamnod Police and Khaltaka Police conducted the rescue operations, and the injured were taken to the Dhamnod Government Hospital in Madhya Pradesh.

Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolence over the bus accident in MP’s Dhar. Taking to Twitter, PMO said, “The bus tragedy in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh is saddening. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. Rescue work is underway, and local authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected: PM Narendra Modi.”

At the same time, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also taken cognizance of the bus accident in Khalghat, located between Khargone-Dhar. The CM has instructed the officials to provide all possible help to the people injured in the accident. At present, the rescue operation of the passengers is going on. However, Chief Minister Chouhan has given instructions to send the SDRF.
