According to a report from a parliamentary commission, any further delay in developing and announcing a specific e-commerce policy may make the current problems in India’s digital market even worse. The report, which was presented on Friday, encouraged the Center to swiftly complete the draught National E-Commerce Policy.
In its report on the “Promotion and Regulation of E-Commerce in India,” the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce noted that the lack of a specific e-commerce policy has led to a “strategy vacuum” for the industry and “ineffective regulation.” Notably, the Committee said as the current regulatory framework is restricted to prevention and identification of sellers who have violated rules regarding Intellectual Property Rights.
