Yesterday, on Friday, Telangana inducted Fast Bowler Mohammed Siraj of the Indian Cricket Team as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that considering his service towards the Indian cricket team at large and more so ahead of the T20 World Cup this year, Siraj would be given a Group-I government position. Besides this, he was also been provided a 600 square yard plot of land situated beside Road No. 78, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.

Siraj has report as DSP after conferring with Telangana state DGP, Dr. Jitender. The viral pictures of Siraj in police uniform have been flooding the internet. Pacer Siraj thanked the Chief Minister heart and soul for this appreciation.

Reactions from the Internet

People on social media are busily going back-and-forth posting responses to the image. One that made me laugh: “Siraj finally arrives at the place to arrest all who created his fake profile”.

On the same day, Siraj was also included in India’s 15-member squad for the Test series against New Zealand, scheduled to begin from October 16. He will be among three pacers who will take the field along with Akash Deep and Jasprit Bumrah, who has been also named vice-captain of the side.

Siraj shot to the fore of the cricket scene after he played a telling role for India in India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 win over Australia. He was in the fray when he made his debut in a Test during that series when several senior cricketers were rested from the side due to injuries.

He should also be in the fray when the side, under Rohit Sharma, travels to Australia for five Tests later this year. Based on inputs, Rohit might miss one of the first two Tests as he has to attend a family function and, in case that happens, Bumrah is likely to be the stand-in skipper.

India’s Squad for the Three Tests Against New Zealand:

Traveling Reserves: Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mayank Yadav, Prasidh Krishna.
