On February 16, Lokpal served a notice to Amandeep Kaur Arora, an MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party from Moga, alongside four individuals, based on allegations of corruption made by a young man. The accusation revolves around the MLA halting property registry work in the tehsil area, causing a stir among the public.

Allegations have also surfaced regarding the MLA’s private secretary (PA), Harsh Arneja, who resides in Moga and has previously worked as a property dealer. The complainant publicly disclosed information during a conference, sparking the MLA’s ire, prompting a WhatsApp call where the MLA threatened and questioned Harsh about his stay in Moga. Subsequently, Harsh filed a written complaint with the Punjab Lokpal, addressed to Justice Vinod Kumar Sharma in Chandigarh.

Amandeep Kaur Arora, who secured victory in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections, defeating Malvika Sood, sister of Bollywood star Sonu Sood, by a substantial margin of over 20,000 votes, now faces scrutiny over these corruption allegations. The complaint forwarded to the Lokpal’s court alleges the illegal acquisition of property in Moga’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh Market, designated as the Freedom Fighters’ property by the Punjab government.

In response, MLA Amandeep Kaur Arora mentioned that she hasn’t received any formal notice from Punjab’s Lokpal yet. If she does receive one, she intends to present her side in Lokpal’s court.
