A US surveillance drone pulled back from the vicinity of Iranian airspace after navigating away from Iranian F-14 fighter aircraft and surveillance drones, Iran’s Nournews said Monday, quoting the nation’s Army Air Force.

Iranian forces continue to stand at high alert, threatening it is ready for “full-scale defense and a stern counterattack” in response to any hostile measures in the Middle East.

The meeting arrives as Washington-Tehran tensions continue to heighten. President Donald Trump was quoted on Monday as saying that Iran would be responsible for any attack by the Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Tehran. At the same time, his government has accelerated the biggest US military effort in the region since his return to the White House.

With both forces on edge, the incident stirs fears of additional military clashes in the turbulent Middle East.
