Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Drops Independent Bid, Backs Trump After Controversial Campaign

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has suspended his independent presidential campaign and endorsed Donald Trump. Kennedy announced his decision in a statement, citing alignment on several key issues with Trump, including the Ukraine war, which Kennedy blames on the US and NATO.

Kennedy will withdraw his candidacy in critical swing states but remain on the ballot in others. His endorsement comes after a series of discussions with Trump, including a meeting following an assassination attempt on Trump in July.

Kennedy’s campaign, initially seen as a potential threat to both major parties, struggled with controversies and declining support. Recent scandals, including personal and legal issues, and poor fundraising performance contributed to his decision.

Kennedy’s endorsement of Trump has been met with criticism from his family, who view it as a betrayal of their father’s values. Kennedy’s former running mate, Nicole Shanahan, had also expressed concerns about his campaign’s impact on the presidential race.
