At the 46th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Iranian Ambassador to India Iraj Elahi emphasized the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations. He highlighted the Persian language as a key cultural link, officially recognized as a classical language in India.
“Iran and India share a long history of friendship. The Persian language is a key cultural link between us. Both countries collaborate on regional and global issues, including SCO and BRICS,” Elahi stated.
Economic Cooperation and Chabahar Port
Elahi highlighted increasing economic ties, citing the long-term agreement on Chabahar Port as a crucial step.
“Chabahar Port is the ‘golden gateway’ connecting the Indian Ocean to Central Asia and the Caucasus. Cooperation through the International North-South Transport Corridor further strengthens our economic partnership,” he added.
Advancements in Science, Technology, and Women’s Participation
Elahi outlined Iran’s progress in education, technology, and gender inclusivity.
- Education & Gender Equality: Iran has 3.2 million university students, with nearly half being women.
- Scientific Development: Iran leads in nanotechnology, biotechnology, and medical isotopes.
- Space Advancements: Iranian scientists have launched 10 satellites using local expertise.
Regional Stability and Foreign Policy Goals
Elahi stressed Iran’s commitment to regional peace and economic diplomacy.
“Iran supports peace and stability through dialogue and cooperation with neighbors. We focus on reducing tensions, economic partnerships, and countering terrorism,” he said.
Commitment to Palestine and Nuclear Program Compliance
Reaffirming Iran’s support for Palestine, Elahi criticized decades of oppression.
“Iran remains committed to Palestinian rights against occupation and violations of Muslim holy sites,” he stated.
On Iran’s nuclear program, Elahi emphasized its peaceful nature and compliance with international regulations.
“Our nuclear program follows international rules with full cooperation with the IAEA. The U.S. withdrew from the JCPOA, and European nations failed to fulfill commitments,” he added.
