EAM Jaishankar Begins 3-Day Doha Visit, Set To Meet Qatari PM

External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr. S. Jaishankar will undertake an official visit to Qatar from December 30, 2024, to January 1, 2025. During his visit, Dr. Jaishankar is set to hold discussions with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, focusing on enhancing the bilateral relationship between India and Qatar.

The visit will cover a broad spectrum of issues, including political cooperation, trade, investment, energy, security, and cultural exchanges. With a strong Indian diaspora in Qatar, people-to-people ties have reached new heights, further cementing the relationship between the two nations.

India and Qatar share robust partnerships in trade and economic collaborations, and this visit is expected to bolster these connections further. The two countries will also engage in discussions on regional and global issues of mutual interest, reflecting Qatar’s strategic importance as a Gulf nation and its significant role in global affairs.

This visit highlights the continued high-level engagement between India and Qatar, building on their long-standing historical ties. It also presents fresh opportunities for collaboration in key areas, reinforcing India’s commitment to nurturing relationships with Gulf nations.

Earlier, on December 7, Dr. Jaishankar met with the Qatari Prime Minister during his visit to Doha for the Doha Forum. The productive talks included discussions on bilateral relations and developments in Gaza and Syria, underlining the dynamic and multifaceted engagement between the two nations.

The upcoming three-day visit will emphasize fostering economic and trade ties, with a focus on mutual investments that reflect the strong interdependence of their economies. As longstanding partners, India and Qatar view trade and investment as foundational pillars of their cooperation, setting the stage for further strengthening their bilateral relationship.
