Day 2: PM Modi to Meet Polish Leaders Tusk and Duda, Engage with Business and Influencers

Following a successful first day in Warsaw, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian diaspora, the second day of his visit to Poland is packed with significant engagements. On Thursday, PM Modi will meet with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and President Andrzej Duda for high-level discussions. The meetings will be followed by joint press statements and a lunch hosted by Tusk.

In addition to the talks, PM Modi will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw and hold discussions with business leaders and influential Polish figures.

On Wednesday, during his address at an Indian community event in Warsaw, PM Modi highlighted that it was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years. He praised the progress India has made over the past decade and expressed confidence that India will become the third-largest global economy in the near future. He also outlined his vision for India to achieve developed nation status by 2047.

PM Modi highlighted the growing connection between India and Poland through the sport of Kabaddi, noting that Poland will host its first Kabaddi championship this year. He shared the news of a new social security agreement between India and Poland, which he stated would benefit the Indian diaspora.

The Prime Minister also reflected on the historical gesture of Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, who provided refuge to Polish women and children during World War II. PM Modi recalled that Jam Saheb is fondly remembered as the ‘Good Maharaja’ in Poland for his humanitarian efforts.

PM Modi’s visit marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Poland. At the diaspora event, the Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by the Indian community, who chanted slogans praising him and raised “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” banners.

After concluding his engagements in Poland, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Ukraine at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, making it the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine.
