A video from a Thailand-bound flight has gone viral, sparking an online debate about the lack of civic sense displayed by some passengers. The video, posted by Instagram user Ankit Kumar, shows a group of Indian passengers standing and chatting mid-flight, despite repeated requests from the cabin crew to remain seated.
The video, which has garnered over 1.5 million views, begins with a man standing at his seat and facing another passenger in the row behind him to have a conversation. The footage then shows a group of 5-6 people standing and talking while the plane is still in the air. Toward the end of the video, some passengers are seen standing and eating, ignoring the cabin crew’s requests for them to remain seated.

The behaviour was met with frustration from fellow passengers. Kumar, who recorded the video, expressed his disappointment, stating, “Indians enjoy getting themselves insulted everywhere. They have literally turned the flight into a train. They are standing and traveling.” Other social media users chimed in with their own opinions. One user wrote, “Again proved. Money doesn’t get you class!”
Others shared similar experiences of uncomfortable in-flight encounters. One person recounted their trip to Thailand, where the flight attendants had to intervene as passengers were standing, and a fellow traveler was eating paan masala mid-flight. Another user humorously remarked, “Looks like some people think the plane is a flying local train waiting for the next stop mid-air!”
Despite the frustration, many took to humor to lighten the mood. One commented, “On trains, they fight for seats,” while another added, “Sit tight, folks, the pilot’s not opening the door anytime soon!” These light-hearted comments suggest that the issue of in-flight behavior may be more widespread than originally thought.
The video has raised questions about public behaviour, particularly during air travel, where safety protocols should take priority. While some argue it’s a matter of lack of civic sense, others believe it’s a broader issue that needs to be addressed through awareness and cultural sensitivity.
This viral incident has sparked widespread discussions on social media platforms, and it seems that the conversation around in-flight manners is just getting started.
