Katrina Kaif’s much-anticipated release of 2024, Merry Christmas, has kicked off its journey at the box office with a promising start. The Sriram Raghavan directorial, based on Frédéric Dard’s French novel Le Monte-charge (Bird In A Cage), amassed Rs 3.75 crore on its third day across all languages, contributing to an overall collection of Rs 9.65 crore over its opening weekend, as reported by Sacnilk.

Released on January 12, Merry Christmas strategically appeals to a diverse audience by simultaneously releasing in both Tamil and Hindi. This marks the first-ever on-screen collaboration between Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi. The Hindi version also boasts stellar performances by Radhika Apte, Aditi Govitrikar, and Sanjay Kapoor in significant roles.

In an NDTV review, critic Saibal Chatterjee awarded Merry Christmas 3.5 stars, describing it as a film filled with stylistic, visual, and musical flourishes that significantly enhance the mystery surrounding a Christmas-eve ‘romance.’ Chatterjee emphasized the film’s exploration of obsessive love gone awry, with intricate storytelling and impressive performances.
