The Meerut South RRTS station opened for passenger operations on Sunday, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) announced. This new eight-kilometer section brings the total operational length of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor to 42 kilometers, connecting nine stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South in Meerut.
Namo Bharat trains will run from 6 am to 10 pm, covering the full stretch from Sahibabad to Meerut South. The first train departs at 6 am, with the final trains leaving the terminals at 10 pm, according to the NCRTC. The fare for a one-way journey on these trains is Rs 110 for standard class from Sahibabad to Meerut South and Rs 90 from Ghaziabad to Meerut South.
The Meerut South RRTS station boasts Uttar Pradesh’s largest parking facility along the corridor, designed to enhance passenger convenience. It includes two parking lots on either side of the station entrance, spanning approximately 13,000 square meters. These lots can accommodate around 1,200 vehicles, including both four-wheelers and two-wheelers. Additionally, there is dedicated parking for auto-rickshaws. The station is designed with easy pick-up and drop-off points for vehicles from both Meerut and Delhi, featuring direct access from the main road.
For passengers with disabilities, the station offers a designated parking area and ramps for easy access to the Namo Bharat trains. This ensures that travel is convenient for all passengers.
The NCRTC highlighted that the Meerut South station serves as a crucial gateway to Meerut, improving travel for commuters from Mohiuddinpur, Bhudbaral, Bahadurpur, Aminagar, Chhajjupur, Kharkhoda, Kadarabad, and surrounding areas. With the new Namo Bharat train services, passengers can now travel from Meerut South to Sahibabad in approximately 30 minutes.
In addition to RRTS trains, the station will also support local metro services for the Meerut region. The station features three tracks—two for RRTS trains and one for metro services—spread across three platforms. It is designed with three levels: ground, mezzanine, and concourse, and spans about 215 meters in length, 36 meters in width, and 22 meters in height.
The entire 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is expected to be fully operational by June 2025, as per official statements.
