Diet is incredibly important for kidney disease patients. What one eats can cause, prevent, or even help alleviate pain and symptoms.Here is a list of foods that one must include in their diet to maintain kidney health.

 

egg white
Egg whites provide a high-quality, kidney-friendly source of protein that is low in phosphorus and is recommended for patients on a renal diet.

Fenugreek
They are known for their potential diuretic properties, which may help promote urine production and support kidney function. It is also believed to help in reducing the risk of kidney stones.

bitter Gourds
They are low in sodium and make an excellent option for managing chronic kidney diseases. It is also rich in fiber and is also effective in eliminating kidney stones.

moringa
The antioxidant properties of moringa help inhibit oxidative damage and helps prevent mineral build-up in the kidneys thereby preventing kidney stones.

garlic
It provides a tasty alternative to salt, adding flavor to dishes while also providing nutritional benefits. It’s a good source of manganese and vitamin B6. It also contains sulfur and allicin which possess anti-inflammatory properties.

pineapple
It can make a sweet treat for people with kidney problems. It is lower in phosphorus, potassium, and sodium and is also a good source of fiber and vitamin A, and it contains bromelain an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties.

lentils
They are an excellent source of plant-based protein, fiber, and essential minerals. Lentils are low in sodium and have a low glycemic index, making them beneficial for kidney health.

Kidneys play an important role in your overall health. However, they are often overlooked when we think of organs that keep us healthy. People with kidney disease have to manage their intake of phosphorus, salt, and potassium. At certain stages, they also need to limit their protein intake. As nutritional needs and restrictions change during the course of the disease, it is best to speak with a doctor before making any dietary changes.
