Mylabs Solutions and Punebased Serum Institute of India have launched ‘Compact XL’—India’s first fully-automated sample PCR-ready system for molecular diagnostics. The makers claimed that the new test kits minimised human interaction and reduced time because of the automated quality. A cartridge-based machine, this can test multiple samples at same time and can be used for a wide range of RNA/DNA-based tests including Covid-19 RT-PCR tests. It can also take a variety of sample types such as plasma, tissue, sputum and swab. Speaking about the developed machine, Hasmukh Rawal, MD, Mylab Discovery Solutions said,” Compact XL will make India self-reliant in advanced diagnostics and will also reduce the need of 3-4 expert technicians to just one and will also save operational costs for labs thus saving operational costs for labs. Scientific and technological breakthroughs are driving our fight against Covid-19. This product, with multiple patents already filed, will be a giant leap in making testing accessible.
