A public meeting is set to take place at Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Thursday, with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann set to jointly address the gathering. The event is being organized in the backdrop of the recent arrest of several individuals by Delhi Police for allegedly putting up posters across the national capital with the slogan ‘Modi Hatao Desh Bachao’, which translates to ‘Remove Modi, Save the Country’. More than 100 FIRs have been registered so far, and six people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Despite the crackdown, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) remains undeterred and plans to raise the same slogan during the meeting at Jantar Mantar. Senior AAP leader and Delhi Minister Gopal Rai shared more details about the event at a press briefing on Wednesday. Rai confirmed that the party will carry forward this slogan into the Lok Sabha elections next year and all party members, including MLAs, MPs, and workers, will participate in the meeting.
The meeting will coincide with Shaheed Diwas, a day that marks the hanging of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. Rai added that in remembrance of these national heroes, Kejriwal and Mann will address the gathering along with other national office bearers of the party.
The event is expected to draw a significant crowd and generate widespread attention, given the current political climate in the country.
