Former Deputy Chief Minister and AAP leader Manish Sisodia arrived in Amritsar on Sunday, following his release from jail and the conclusion of his padyatra in Delhi. At Shri Guru Ram Dass International Airport, Sisodia praised the efficiency of the Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Sisodia expressed his admiration for the Punjab administration, stating, “During my time in jail, I missed the people and my team in Punjab. The Punjab government is working efficiently under CM Bhagwant Mann’s leadership.” He also expressed hope for the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who remains incarcerated. “Now that I am out of jail, I hope Arvind Kejriwal will also be released soon,” he added.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering investigation related to alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. Sisodia, who was arrested by the CBI in February 2023 for alleged irregularities in the implementation of the excise policy, had been imprisoned for 17 months before his recent release.

Last week, Sisodia began a padyatra to reconnect with the public after his release. As Delhi gears up for Assembly elections expected in early 2025, the political landscape remains dynamic. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly polls, the AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured eight seats, and Congress failed to win any seats.
