Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh hoisted the national flag at the First Manipur Rifle Ground in Imphal on Thursday as part of the state’s Independence Day celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for every citizen to contribute towards promoting national unity and harmony.

“India is great, Manipur is great. Every citizen of India should get involved in every manner to unify India,” Biren Singh stated while addressing reporters after the flag hoisting. He also praised the successful implementation of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign across Manipur under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Despite facing some challenges, many people have come forward and participated in the marchpast, showing their support and enthusiasm,” he noted.

Regarding the ongoing unrest in the state, the Chief Minister highlighted the efforts being made to restore peace, emphasizing that the process requires a step-by-step approach. “Peace lies with us. There isn’t a specific roadmap because this is a conflict, not an accident. We are making every kind of effort. Peace has been restored in Jiribam, and we are trying to replicate this district by district by engaging with the people directly,” Biren Singh said.

The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the people of Manipur and extended his greetings on the occasion of Independence Day.

This year marks India’s 78th Independence Day, celebrated with a spirit of patriotism and unity. The theme for this year, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047,’ reflects the nation’s goal of becoming a developed country by 2047. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in New Delhi and delivered a speech outlining the objectives of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047,’ urging citizens to work tirelessly to achieve these ambitions.
