Mangoes from Uttar Pradesh will soon be seen in the markets of Japan and Malaysia. This time, UP is going to export 40 tonnes of mangoes to Japan and Malaysia. These mangoes have already reached the US, where the Dussehri mango, priced at INR 60 to 100 per kilogram in India, has reached INR 900 per kilogram in the US market.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself shared this information on Friday at the Mango Festival in Lucknow. At the inauguration of the festival, he said that even if the maximum cost is assumed to be INR 300 per kilogram, the farmer is making a profit of INR 600 per kilogram. Around 2660 samples of approximately 800 varieties of mangoes were displayed at the festival. The Chief Minister awarded 15 farmers, exporters, and entrepreneurs for their outstanding work.
While highlighting the qualities of mangoes, the Chief Minister also described the characteristics of a good person. He said that mangoes are accessible to everyone, simple, and useful. Everyone has access to this fruit. We can say that the one who is ‘common’ will be the king. That’s why the mango is called the king of fruits. He mentioned that in the state, 3.15 lakh hectares produce 5.8 million metric tons of mangoes. This constitutes 25 to 30 percent of the country’s total mango production. A team from the Horticulture Department visited Moscow last year. Farmers from Lucknow and Amroha participated and organized a mango festival there. Following that, they received orders for mangoes from there.
For the export of mangoes abroad, our government, with the cooperation of the Government of India, has established pack houses in Saharanpur, Amroha, Lucknow, and Varanasi. Now, we must continuously work to maintain both quantity and quality in line with the growing population. I assure you that the double-engine government will work with full commitment to your interests. The schemes that the Prime Minister has devised for farmers, gardeners, and livestock owners will help increase farmers’ income fourfold.
On this occasion, a mango exhibition was also organized. It featured 120 special varieties of mangoes. People saw a total of approximately 800 varieties of mangoes at the exhibition. The CM flagged off mangoes being exported to foreign countries. On this occasion, Minister of State for Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing (Independent Charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, and Agricultural Production Commissioner Devesh Chaturvedi were also present.
