In a significant ruling, Alam, a resident of Ward No. 1, Sugar Mill Road, Morinda, was sentenced to three life imprisonments by the Sessions Judge of Rupnagar on Saturday for the heinous murders of his wife, sister-in-law, and nephew. Additionally, he was convicted for causing injuries to another nephew in the same incident, culminating in a total prison term of 70 years.
The prosecution’s allegations paint a gruesome picture of the events that transpired on the night of June 3, 2020. Alam, armed with an axe, committed the brutal murders of his wife Kajal, sister-in-law Jaspreet Kaur, and her son Sahil while they were asleep at their parental home on Sugar Mill Road, Morinda. The violent spree did not stop there; he also attempted to kill Bobby, another son of his sister-in-law, inflicting serious injuries.
Following a thorough investigation and submission of the final report by the prosecution, the trial commenced.
