PALGHAR: A 24-year-old resident of Nala Sopara in Maharashtra’s Palghar district fell victim to cyber fraud, losing Rs 4.5 lakh. Frustrated by the lack of response from a nationalized bank regarding his admission-related account statements for a UK management course, he turned to Google for the bank’s grievance helpline. Unfortunately, he landed on a fake website, where he shared his debit card details with a person posing as a bank representative. Subsequently, Rs 4.5 lakh was siphoned from his account in two transactions.
