A Hyderabad man named Sai Teja has stirred social media after discovering worms in the pieces of chicken biryani ordered from Mehfil Biryani, a reputed restaurant in Kukatpally. Shocked by the find, he shared disturbing images of the contaminated dish, prompting widespread concern among netizens.
Teja took to social media platform X to showcase photos revealing maggots within the chicken biryani pieces, tagging @cfs_telangana and urging intervention from authorities. He also reported the issue to Swiggy, the delivery platform through which he placed the order. Initially, Swiggy offered a partial refund of Rs. 64 out of his Rs. 318 bill, which Teja found unsatisfactory.

Expressing his discontent, Teja cautioned others to avoid ordering from Mehfil Biryani and attempted to file a complaint with the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Despite providing all necessary details, he encountered system issues during the filing process.
In response to the social media uproar, Swiggy’s customer care team eventually provided Teja with a full refund, addressing his grievances more adequately.
The incident serves as a reminder for consumers to exercise caution when ordering food online, highlighting the importance of food safety standards and rigorous quality control measures in the food delivery industry.
