A man named Ananta Das was charred to death after a truck hit his scooter and Das for around 500 meters on Thursday in Siliguri’s Shivmandir area.
Meanwhile, at around 8 pm near Gate number 2 of North Bengal University, the incident happened.
The man who died hails from Siliguri and was returning from Bagdogra to his home. When das was returning from Siliguri a dumper truck hit the scooter and dragged the deceased for around 500 meters from North Bengal University Gate number 1 to Gate number 2.
After the accident truck and the scooter caught fire and the body of Das was charred after the fire.
“I came to know that a major incident occurred in front of the University. I reached the spot and found that the body was fully charred after the two vehicles caught fire,” Utpal Goswami, a resident of the Shivmandir area said.
However, a case has been registered against the driver, and has been arrested.
