A 35-year-old man has been apprehended on charges of strangling his 10-year-old mentally-challenged daughter to death at their residence. The tragic incident transpired the day before, according to local authorities.
The couple involved has four daughters, ranging in age from 5 to 14, with the youngest residing with her grandparents in their native village, as revealed by a police official. The accused, identified as Manoj Agrahari, is alleged to have strangled his daughter, Lovely, within their Dombivli home while other family members were out. This grim detail was cited in the First Information Report (FIR).
Sources indicate that Agrahari grappled with alcoholism and was known to be abusive towards his wife. While the accused worked at a local grocery store, his wife held employment at a company in the MIDC area of Dombivli. Lovely, the victim, had suffered from mental challenges, as well as speech and hearing impairments since birth. The account further suggests that Agrahari visited a scrap shop where his 14-year-old daughter was employed, conveying the grim news that Lovely had passed away. Upon rushing home, the older daughter discovered her lifeless sister in their home and promptly alerted her mother. Authorities have filed a murder case under the Indian Penal Code and are actively pursuing an extensive investigation into the tragic incident.
