The Uttar Pradesh Police announced on Thursday that they had apprehended a suspect accused of murdering a juvenile girl during a failed rape attempt in the Uttar Pradesh district of Lakhimpur Kheri. Officers were notified that the accused was caught following a brief exchange of fire with them. According to police, the culprit, identified as Saddam, 23, was caught after being injured in an incident.
“A missing person’s report for a minor girl was lodged on October 8,” Ganesh Prasad Saha, SP, Lakhimpur Kheri, told ANI. The next day, her body was discovered in a sugarcane field. A squad was formed to find the accused. After a brief exchange of fire, the accused, who is roughly 23 years old, was apprehended.”
The victim knew the defendants because they lived nearby, according to the SP.
“Saddam summoned the girl to a location near the sugarcane fields and dragged her into the fields.” Saddam strangled the girl to death and fled the scene after she resisted his rape attempt. “It is obvious that the only reason for dragging the girl into the fields was to rape her,” the SP continued. He stated that more action will be taken based on the forensic evidence gathered at the spot.
