Delhi Police will not record the statement of the parents of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today in connection with the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s assault case, sources said.

According to the Delhi Police sources, the statement that Swati Maliwal had recorded before the magistrate, she had written that before the assault, she had gone inside the CM house when both Sunita Kejriwal and her parents were present.
“She came out after meeting them. That’s why we are asking for time of two days to take their statement,” the sources said.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal said that he is waiting for the police and has not been informed yet whether they will come or not.
“I am waiting for the police with my parents and wife. Yesterday the police called my parents and asked for time for interrogation. But they have not given any information yet whether they will come or not,” the Delhi CM posted on X.

Atishi, a minister in Delhi and leader of the AAP, also expressed worries over Kejriwal’s parents being questioned by the Delhi Police on Thursday. She questioned whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi had “stooped so low” to target old and sick parents.
Has our PM gone so far as to target our parents who are sick and elderly? Atishi told the journalists, “I don’t think politics in the nation has ever sunk this low.”

Highlighting the health condition of CM Kejriwal’s parents, Atishi said, “Today, when violence is being inflicted upon the parents of Arvind Kejriwal, and Delhi Police are being called to interrogate his elderly and ailing parents, I believe that all limits have been crossed. CM Arvind Kejriwal’s mother is 76 years old and she has been in the hospital for a long time before her arrest.”

“Her condition is such that she can hardly walk and cannot leave her room. His father is 85 years old, unable to walk without support, with impaired vision and hearing,” she added.

The AAP leader urged Delhi residents to use their voting power to express their opposition to what she sees as the unfair prosecution of Chief Minister Kejriwal and his family.

“I have full confidence that the people of Delhi will respond to this persecution of Arvind Kejriwal and his elderly and sick parents with their votes,” Atishi said.
“We are waiting for the police to arrive. This is also a matter of concern for us because if elderly and sick parents are being called for interrogation, mentally harassing them, then this is a matter of concern for us as well,” she added.
She further criticized the Delhi Police’s involvement, alleging their alignment with BJP’s political agenda and insinuating a conspiracy orchestrated by the ruling party.

“Delhi police had said that they will interrogate Kejriwal’s parents. Everyone knows that the Delhi Police is a political tool of the BJP, working on BJP’s orders. The whole incident is a BJP conspiracy, and BJP should also be asked now because deals have been made with Swati Maliwal under which a whole conspiracy has been hatched,” Atishi said.

Based on Maliwal’s complaint, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established to look into the case that had been brought against Bibhav Kumar. On Sunday, May 19, Bibhav was taken into prison by the Delhi Police and remains in their custody.
Bibhav filed a countercomplaint against Maliwal, claiming that she had broken the law by forcing her way into the CM’s entrance.
