A major accident took place on Wednesday in which more than 50 passengers were injured. The three coaches of a passenger train derailed in Maharashtra. As of now, no casualties have been reported in the incident.
“Prima facie, the loco pilot of the express – Bhagat Ki Kothi SF Express (20843) – could not control the train, due to which it hit the brake van of a goods train that was standing ahead of it,” a senior SECR official said.

The accident happened after a passenger train collided with a good train at around 2.30 am on Wednesday. The passenger train was going from Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh to Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The injured passengers were referred to government and private hospitals in Gondia for treatment.
“Due to the impact, four wheels of a coach of the express train got off the tracks. But no passenger was seriously injured in the incident. Only a few received minor injuries. One passenger suffering from anxiety was admitted to a hospital,” a senior SECR official said.
Meanwhile, people who were trapped inside the train after the accident was also pulled out. According to media reports, a goods train going from Raipur to Nagpur was hit hard by a passenger train coming from behind. The driver applied the emergency brake, but could not avoid hitting the goods train.
