A student from Latur district in Maharashtra, who faces physical challenges, completed their Class 12 exams using their feet. Despite being born without arms, Gaus Shaikh, a Science stream student, scored an impressive 78% on the Higher Secondary Certificate exam conducted in March. Determined to pursue a career as an IAS officer, Shaikh opted not to use an exam scribe and instead wrote using their toes. The exam results were announced earlier this week.

Coming from a rural village, this 17-year-old completed his education at Renukadevi Higher Secondary Ashram School in Vasantnagar Tanda, where his father serves as a peon.

“Gaus began writing numbers and letters at the age of four. His elementary teachers encouraged him to practice writing using his toes. During exams, he completes his papers like any other student, managing his tasks efficiently,” shared his father, Amjad.

Talking to PTI, Gaus said, “Since childhood, I have dreamt of serving my country, which is why I want to become an IAS officer.”
