On Wednesday, Maharashtra recorded 81 fresh Covid cases and one fatality, with the total number of patients infected with the JN.1 sub-variant reaching 451, according to the state health department. The single fatality was reported in Pune, bringing the confirmed Covid death toll to 11 for the year. Mumbai witnessed 26 new cases on Wednesday, as state officials noted a decline in new detections, hospitalizations, and the positivity rate.
Ninety-seven individuals were discharged on Wednesday, contributing to a drop in active cases to 562. Pune leads with 189 cases of the JN.1 sub-variant of Omicron in the state, followed by Thane with 89 cases, Mumbai with 37 cases, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar with 31 cases, Nagpur with 30 cases, Raigad with 13 cases, and nine cases each in Solapur and Amravati, among other regions.
