At least 90 people were hospitalized in Nanded district, Maharashtra, in a suspected case of food poisoning after consuming food at a temple feast, according to the police on Thursday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in Naigaon, where a feast was organized just outside a Shiva temple. Devotees were served “ambil” (porridge) and “khir” (a sweet dish made from milk). However, after consuming the “ambil,” they began to feel dizzy and started vomiting.

“Some of them were initially taken to a hospital, but as more complaints of food poisoning emerged, a total of 90 people were admitted to various hospitals for treatment,” said an official.

All individuals are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. In response to the incident, a police team visited the location and initiated an inquiry.
