A committee, established under the directives of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Sushil Sarwan, conducted visits to Chandigarh Railway Station, Chandi Mandir, Kalka Railway Station, and Aerodrome Pinjore in preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The committee comprised of Nodal Officers, instructed Railway Police and Haryana Police to maintain strict vigilance to prevent the distribution of objectionable materials and cash during the elections.
The Deputy Commissioner’s team appointed Assistant Commissioner of the Income Tax Department Devina Vardhan IRS, SDM Kalka Lakshit Sareen, Municipal Magistrate Mannat Rana, and Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Simranjit Kaur as nodal officers.
Emphasising the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the committee affirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made by the district administration to ensure transparent and peaceful elections. Citizens are urged to cast their votes without being influenced by greed or fear.
During meetings with Railway Police at various stations and the Aerodrome, instructions were issued to monitor the distribution of cash, gold, and silver jewelry to prevent misuse during voting.
Furthermore, the nodal officer team convened a meeting with various bankers at the SDM office in Kalka. Detailed instructions were provided to conduct elections transparently and peacefully, and bankers were directed to monitor significant transactions closely and share relevant information with the District Election Officer.
