Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Sushil Sarwan, conducted a meeting with sector officers and nodal officers to discuss the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha General Elections-2024.
The meeting, held at the auditorium of Mini Secretariat, included a live demonstration of VVPAT, Controlling Unit, and Ballot Unit, along with detailed information about the functioning of EVMs.
District Election Officer Sarwan mentioned that a total of 418 polling stations have been set up in two assemblies of Panchkula district, Kalka-01 and Panchkula-02, comprising 215 in Kalka Assembly and 203 in Panchkula Assembly.
Emphasising the theme “Celebration of Elections, Pride of the Nation” for the Lok Sabha General Election-2024, he urged the officers to publicize it widely to encourage voter participation.
Sector Officers were instructed to visit assigned polling stations, assess facilities for voters, and promptly report any deficiencies. To facilitate disabled voters, a wheelchair will be provided at each polling center, along with volunteers for assistance. The officers were also tasked with identifying vulnerable and critical polling stations for additional security deployment.
During the meeting, Municipal Magistrate Mannat Rana used a PPT to brief sector officers on their responsibilities related to election management, law and order, model code of conduct, monitoring election expenditure, EVM-VVPAT functioning, sweep, and other essential election aspects.Several officials, including ASP Manpreet, SDM Panchkula Gaurav Chauhan, SDM Kalka Lakshit Sareen, and others from various departments, were present at the meeting to ensure comprehensive preparations for a fair and peaceful Lok Sabha General Election-2024.
