The Central Parliamentary Committee of the Nationalist Congress Party, led by Sharad Chandra Pawar, announced the third list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The list includes Rishikant Shinde for the Satara constituency and Shriram Patil for the Raver constituency.
Following extensive negotiations, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) constituents finalized their seat-sharing arrangement for Maharashtra’s 48 Lok Sabha seats. The Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, will contest 21 seats, while the Congress will vie for 17 seats, and the Nationalist Congress Party, led by Sharadchandra Pawar, will field candidates in 10 seats.
The announcement was made jointly by NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole. The MVA and the ruling Mahayuti, comprising the BJP, NCP led by Ajit Pawar, and Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, are in a fierce competition for the 48 parliamentary seats in Maharashtra.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP and the undivided Shiv Sena formed an alliance and won 23 and 18 seats, respectively. The upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra will be conducted in five phases, from April 19 to May 20.
