PM Modi offers prayers to ‘Kashi Kotwal’ before filing papers today. PM Narendra Modi will file his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat today in Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi is the sitting MP and candidate from Varanasi. Voting in Varanasi will be held on June 1 in the seventh and last phase of the Lok Sabha polls.

Ahead of this formal process, he plans to engage in spiritual activities, offering prayers at Dashwamedh Ghat and taking a dip in the sacred River Ganga before embarking on a cruise ship. Expressing his profound connection with the city, Modi shared on X, “My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable and incomparable… all I can say is that it cannot be expressed in words!”

As the incumbent Member of Parliament and the chosen candidate from Varanasi, Modi is gearing up for the electoral battle scheduled for June 1st, the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Preceding his nomination filing, Modi orchestrated an elaborate roadshow spanning five kilometers in Varanasi on Monday evening.

Accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP state president Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Modi’s procession resonated with fervent chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Jai Shree Ram’ as enthusiastic supporters and locals lined the streets to cheer him on. Commencing the roadshow with the garlanding of Mahamana Madan Mohan Malviya’s statue at the Singh Dwar of Kashi Hindu University, Modi concluded the event over two and a half hours later at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham.

Challenging Modi in Varanasi is Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai, marking the third consecutive electoral face-off between the two. In the 2019 elections, Modi secured a resounding victory with over 6,74,664 votes, claiming a commanding vote share of 63.6 percent. His initial electoral triumph in 2014 saw him contesting from both Gujarat’s Vadodara and Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi constituencies.
