Voting for the seventh and final phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections commenced at 7 am on Saturday, concluding the largest democratic process to elect 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. A total of 57 constituencies (41 General, 3 ST, and 13 SC) across eight states and Union Territories are voting to decide the fate of 904 candidates. Simultaneously, polling for 42 assembly constituencies of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is also taking place.
The states and Union Territories involved in this seventh phase include Bihar (8/40 seats), Himachal Pradesh (4/4), Jharkhand (3/14), Odisha (6/21), Punjab (13/13), Uttar Pradesh (13/80), West Bengal (9/42), and the Chandigarh Union Territory.
Key candidates in this phase are PM Modi, who is seeking a third term from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, former Union Minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad (Patna Sahib), actress Kangana Ranaut (Mandi), Congress’ Manish Tewari (Chandigarh), Samajwadi Party leader Afzal Ansari (Ghazipur), and Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh (Karakat).
