DARK MELODIES

A dark satisfaction was rising
Upon the eyes of a pack of greedy souls,
As their lust surged and darkened further.
A haunting echo of bugle blared,
Smacking the buttress and the castle;
The gargoyles shivered in terror.

Violent cloud bursts in shades of crimson,
Haunting voices rose loud and clear.
Thousand lightning strikes at once,
Black smoke billowed in the empty sky.
The riverbed was overrun with red;
The dance of death had just begun.

Raucous voices echoed everywhere,
Until the castle of dreams collapsed,
And the stench of victory mingled…
…with the smell of burning flesh.
And the commander arose and declared,
“The war is over; let’s celebrate!”
