Yoga For Immune Support: How Sun Salutations And Mudras Enhance Your Health

Immunity is crucial for defending the body against diseases and infections, comprising both innate immunity, present from birth, and acquired immunity, developed through exposure to pathogens. Strengthening innate immunity is key to overall health, and experts suggest that Yoga can play a vital role in enhancing this natural defense system.

Yoga Techniques for Immune Support

Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, Founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, explains that Yoga enhances internal communication and energy flow, known as Prana, which revitalizes and rejuvenates the body. He recommends incorporating a specific Yoga sequence to bolster the immune system:

  1. Sun Salutations and Surya Sadhana

    • Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara): This dynamic sequence warms up the body, boosts circulation, and stimulates the lymphatic system. Perform 5-10 rounds to energize both body and mind.
    • Surya Sadhana: Practice sitting or standing under the morning sun to absorb its beneficial rays, which supports overall health.
  2. Mudras for Enhanced Immunity

    • Prana Mudra: Activates dormant energy to boost vitality and immune function.
    • Aditi Mudra: Enhances energy flow and strengthens the respiratory system.
    • Adi Mudra: Calms the nervous system and increases lung capacity, supporting immune health.
  3. Vajrasana and Vajra Mudra

    • Vajrasana: Aids digestion and energy flow throughout the body. Combined with Vajra Mudra, it improves circulation and balances energy channels.

Incorporating Yoga for Better Health

According to Akshar, these Yoga practices can significantly enhance innate immunity and overall well-being. Yoga not only supports physical health but also promotes mental and emotional balance, creating a harmonious state essential for optimal immune function. By integrating these practices into your daily routine, you can boost your body’s natural defenses and foster a deep connection between mind and body.
