Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan has withdrawn from public appearances and aversion to paparazzi stems from his deep-seated anger towards the media. This revelation comes from Mumbai-based photographer Varinder Chawla, shedding light on the actor’s sudden retreat from the limelight following his son Aryan Khan’s highly publicized arrest in 2021.
Why Is Shah Rukh Khan Mad With The Media?
Chawla recounts an incident during the release of Khan’s film “Pathaan” in 2023, where a video of the actor captured by his team prompted discomfort. Recognizing the invasion of Khan’s privacy, Chawla promptly contacted the actor’s PR team, expressing his decision not to use the footage. To his astonishment, Khan’s manager soon conveyed the actor’s desire to speak with him directly.
In a candid exchange, Khan shared his anguish over the media’s treatment of his son, Aryan Khan, during his incarceration in the Cordelia Cruise case. Despite being cleared of all charges, Aryan’s arrest had deeply affected Khan, prompting him to distance himself from media scrutiny. Khan’s protective stance towards his children became evident, prompting Chawla to empathize with the actor’s plight.
Aryan Khan’s Case
In 2021, Aryan was detained in connection with the Cordelia Cruise case, accused of possessing narcotics. He spent 22 days in custody before being acquitted of all allegations. Shah Rukh Khan visited him in jail during this time and faced a swarm of photographers and media personnel during his public appearances.
Aryan Khan’s arrest, which garnered significant media attention, left a lasting impact on Khan’s relationship with the press. With his son’s welfare as the top priority, Khan has since employed various strategies to avoid unwanted media attention. From traveling in vehicles with tinted windows to discreet venue entries, Khan’s efforts to shield himself and his family from the prying eyes of the media are evident.
Despite the success of his recent films, including “Pathaan,” “Jawan,” and “Dunki,” Khan has maintained a strict media embargo since the incident. Refraining from interviews and public appearances, Khan’s silence speaks volumes about his unwavering commitment to protecting his family’s privacy amidst relentless media scrutiny.
