A former cameraman, Emilio Garcia, has filed a lawsuit against Grammy-winning rapper Megan Thee Stallion, alleging that she created a hostile work environment and violated labor codes by harassing him and failing to pay him properly. The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, covers Garcia’s time working with Stallion from 2018 to 2023.
Garcia’s complaint includes several allegations, including an incident during a tour in Spain in June 2022, where Stallion engaged in sexual activity in a moving vehicle in which Garcia was present, causing him embarrassment and offense. Garcia also claims that Stallion fat-shamed him and imposed demanding work conditions, such as being on 24/7 standby and not receiving proper compensation or breaks.
The lawsuit also addresses Garcia’s termination in 2023, which he believes was in retaliation for raising concerns about the hostile work environment and unpaid wages.
Ron Zambrano, Garcia’s lawyer, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that all employees, including those working for celebrities, should have a harassment-free workplace.
In response, Stallion’s attorney, Alex Spiro, characterized the lawsuit as a ploy for financial gain, claiming that there is no sexual harassment claim and that the accusations are meant to embarrass Stallion. Zambrano countered this, asserting that the lawsuit indeed addresses a hostile work environment based on sex.
This legal dispute sheds light on broader issues regarding workplace conditions in the entertainment industry, with Zambrano highlighting the importance of holding individuals accountable for illegal actions, regardless of their celebrity status.
The legal proceedings are expected to continue in the coming months.
