Tabu To Portray Sister Francesca In ‘Dune: Prophecy’

Actor Tabu has secured a significant role in the international series ‘Dune: Prophecy’. According to Variety, she will portray Sister Francesca in the Max prequel series. This news has delighted her “desi fans.” One Instagram user commented, “Wow…this is huge,” while a fan on X remarked, “Tabu truly deserves this. She is a versatile actress.”

Sister Francesca is depicted as “Strong, intelligent, and alluring, Sister Francesca leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.” The series, initially commissioned in 2019 under the title ‘Dune: The Sisterhood’, is inspired by the novel ‘Sisterhood of Dune’ by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.

The official logline describes the series as being “Set within the expansive universe of ‘Dune,’ created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, ‘Dune: Prophecy’ follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”

In this project, Tabu will appear alongside notable actors such as Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Johdi May, Travis Fimmel, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Mark Strong, Chloe Lea, Josh Heuston, and Jade Anouka. The series is a joint production between Max and Legendary Television, with Legendary also behind the film franchise. The release date for the show remains undisclosed.

Tabu first ventured into western cinema in 2006 with Mira Nair’s ‘The Namesake’, which received widespread critical acclaim. Her second western film, ‘Life of Pi’ (2012), directed by Ang Lee, won four Oscars, including Best Director.

In Bollywood, Tabu is all set to reunite with Ajay Devgn in ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum’, directed by Neeraj Pandey. This epic musical romantic drama spans 23 years, from 2000 to 2023. Tabu and Ajay have previously co-starred in numerous films such as ‘Vijaypath’, ‘Haqeeqat’, ‘Thakshak’, ‘Fitoor’, ‘Drishyam’, ‘Golmaal Again’, ‘De De Pyaar De’, ‘Drishyam 2’, and ‘Bholaa’. Their upcoming film is expected to be released in July this year.
