However, there are times when a bath is necessary—after a day in the dirt, pool, or when they’re simply stinky!
Excessive bathing can lead to skin dryness and irritation, especially in children. Natural oils and bacteria protect their skin, and too many baths can strip these away. If your child looks clean and hasn’t been exposed to pool water or dirt, skipping the bath is perfectly okay.
When it’s time for a bath, follow these tips:
– Use warm, not hot, water
– Keep baths short
– Opt for mild, unscented soap
– Pat skin dry and moisturize if needed
For teenagers, a soapy washcloth to the face, underarms, and groin area may suffice on less active days.
