Popular Carnatic singer-Padma Shri recipient Bombay Jayashri on March 24 suffered an aneurysm. She was found unconscious in her room and was later rushed to the hospital. The singer had undergone surgery, which was deemed successful. A statement from her respective Twitter handle reads: “The medical interventions have been every effective. Jayashri Ramnath’s road to recovery is on the right track. The NHS staff have been incredible. The Indian government has been by our side every step of the way. We thank everyone for their love, support and prayers.”

For the unversed, an aneurysm is the enlargement of an artery caused by weakness in the arterial wall. Jayashri had undergone keyhole surgery, and an official update from her family is that she is stable and recovering well.
