Anubhav Sinha’s directorial Bheed failed to lure the audience to the theatre. The film stars Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, and Pankaj Kapur. It opened to mostly positive reviews from critics. However, the audience did not rush into theatres to watch the film. As a result, Anubhav Sinha’s directorial collected only Rs 15 lakhs on its opening day. A report in India Today revealed that Bheed witnessed only a 5.48 percent occupancy and failed to even come any close to the director’s last release Anek.
Bheed highlights the plight of migrant workers during the nationwide Corona virus-induced lockdown and their painful and heartbreaking journey to make their way back home. For the unversed, the film has been criticized by a section of trade analysts for drawing comparisons between the 1947 Partition and mass migration during the lockdown.
Next, Rajkummar Rao will be seen in Mr and Mrs Mahi. Directed by the very talented Sharan Sharma, the film also stars Janhvi Kapoor. He will also be seen in Sri. The film is based on the biopic of visually impaired industrialist Srikant Bolla and also stars Alaya F, Jyothika, and Sharad Kelkar. On the other hand, Bhumi will next play a police officer in the thriller Bhakshak. She also has The Lady Killer and Meri Patni Ka Remake in her kitty.
