Sharmin Segal Addresses ‘Bullying’ Allegations, Says Interviews Were Misconstrued

Sharmin Segal, known for her role as Alamzeb in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi,” recently responded to criticism surrounding her portrayal in the series. Social media users criticized her performance, with some labeling it ‘expressionless,’ prompting Segal to disable comments on her Instagram account.

Out-of-Context Interviews and ‘Outsider’ Comments

In an interview with Times Now, Segal addressed controversies over her remarks, particularly a viral clip involving co-star Sanjeeda Shaikh. Segal emphasized that her interviews had been taken out of context, expressing disappointment that brief clips were being used to define her relationships with co-stars like Aditi Rao Hydari and Sanjeeda Shaikh, both of whom she maintains a cordial relationship with.

Acting Journey and Industry Background

Segal, the niece of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, made her acting debut in “Malaal” opposite Meezaan Jafri. Prior to acting, she worked as an assistant director on acclaimed films such as “Mary Kom” and “Bajirao Mastani.” Her transition into acting under her uncle’s guidance has been a significant step in her career.
