Sony Pictures has rescheduled the release date for the third ‘Venom movie to November 8, 2024, shifting it from the initially slated July 12, 2024. This adjustment aligns with the conclusion of the 118-day actors’ strike as the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) approved a tentative deal on the same day.
The untitled third installment of the Venom series will see Kelly Marcel, the writer and producer of the first two films, step into the director’s chair. Tom Hardy, reprising his role as Eddie Brock/Venom, is involved in developing the story alongside Marcel. The movie will be produced by Marcel Hardy, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.
The previous two ‘Venom’ films, directed by Hardy, had successful runs at the box office. The first movie, released in 2018, grossed $856 million globally, and the sequel, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), despite challenges during the pandemic, earned $502 million. Both films debuted in early October, making it interesting to note the shift in the release pattern with the third installment.
While the plot details of ‘Venom 3’ are being kept under wraps, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom made a credits sequence appearance in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” The film is part of Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters, which includes characters like Morbius, Kraven the Hunter, and Madame Web, among others.
