Robert Pattinson starrer ‘Batman Part II’ to release in October 2026

Movie enthusiasts will have to wait an additional year to see Robert Pattinson reprise his role in ‘The Batman Part II’ as the film’s release date has been pushed back to October 2, 2026, announced Warner Bros. Director Matt Reeves will return to helm the sequel, but other casting details remain unclear.

The delay was due to screenplay development issues during the 2023 Hollywood strikes, which stalled production. The first film, a dark take on Bruce Wayne’s early days as Batman, featured Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon.

Warner Bros. also announced other changes to its release calendar, including ‘The Bride,’ starring Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, and Peter Sarsgaard, taking the original spot of ‘The Batman Part II’ on October 3, 2025. Additionally, ‘Alto Knights,’ a mob drama starring two Robert De Niros, has moved from November 15, 2024, to March 21, 2025.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to ‘The Batman’ was first announced at CinemaCon in April 2022. Mattson Tomlin joined as co-writer with Reeves in August of that year, and in late January 2023, DC Studios executives James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the film’s title and original release date of October 3, 2025.

Variety reports that Pattinson and Reeves will continue exploring their Batman storyline in the ‘DC Elseworlds’ sidebar, while Gunn and Safran will introduce a new Batman to the DC Universe. Additionally, a Batman and Robin film based on ‘The Brave and the Bold’ comics is in the works for the DC Universe. Reeves is also preparing to film a spinoff series focusing on Colin Farrell’s character, the Penguin.
