Johnny Depp sells out his debut art collection for USD 3.6 million

On a London art gallery’s website on Thursday, Hollywood star Johnny Depp’s debut painting collection, “Friends and Heroes,” quickly sold out, netting the actor millions of dollars.

Fox News said that the Castle Fine Art Gallery features 780 prints of pop art-style pictures of celebrities including Keith Richards, Elizabeth Taylor, Al Pacino, and Bob Dylan.

Taking to Instagram, the gallery announced,  “This world-first release proved to be our fastest-selling collection to date, with all titles selling out in just hours.”

According to the gallery Johnny depp focused on, “people he has known well, and who have inspired him as a person. Each image is an intimate reflection of their character in Johnny’s eyes; a portrayal of how they have revealed themselves to him.”

Since the two acted together in the murder movie “Donnie Brasco” in 1997, Al Pacino and he have become good friends, according to a collection brochure. They connected over a “similar predisposition towards creative craziness.”

Depp and Keith Richards both enjoy music, especially “obscure blues recordings,” and he referred to Keith Richards in the brochure as “the coolest rock ‘n’ roll star of all time.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean film series’ Captain Jack Sparrow was in part inspired by Richards.

Both singly and as a set, the limited-edition silk-screen pictures are available for purchase. A single photo is priced at USD 3,973, and the collection of four is available for USD 15,040. According to Fox News, Depp reportedly made more than USD 3.6 million from Thursday’s sales.

The actor’s successful venture into the arts follows a significant victory in his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, in which a Virginia jury granted him USD 10.35 million in damages on June 1  in her countersuit, Heard was also given USD 2 million in damages for a single claim. According to Fox News, both of them recently appealed the decision.
