The trailer for the musical thriller sequel ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, starring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, is scheduled for release on April 9. Lady Gaga took to her Instagram to share an intriguing poster, unveiling the trailer’s release date, captioning it, “The world is a stage. Joker: Folie a Deux trailer coming April 9.”

The poster features Joker (Joaquin Phoenix) and Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga) dancing under a beam of light through a window. Joker is dressed in a black tuxedo, while Quinn wears a white dress. DC Comics also shared an update stating the same.

Joaquin Phoenix stars in the lead role in ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, with Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn. The cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lotte. Todd Phillips and Scott Silver have penned the script, with Phillips directing the film. Music is being composed by Hildur Guonadottir.

The original film follows the story of Arthur Fleck, a struggling clown who transforms into a criminal. The sequel is a musical, with Lady Gaga joining the cast as a pop star.

Variety describes the film as a drama with musical elements set in and around Arkham Asylum. The supporting cast includes Zazie Beetz, who returns from the original ‘Joker’, alongside new additions Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.

The 2019 ‘Joker’ was highly controversial and successful, grossing over USD 1 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing R-rated release in box office history. The film received 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, and won Phoenix the Best Actor award. Expectations are high for ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’, especially with the addition of Lady Gaga to the cast.

‘Joker: Folie a Deux’ is set to premiere in theaters on October 4.
