Jack Wagner, the 64-year-old actor known for his role in ‘When Calls the Heart,’ has discovered a newfound tranquility after years in Hollywood, according to a report by People. Wagner mentioned that with age comes wisdom, allowing him to release any past concerns and find a sense of peace.
“I’m able to let go of things I used to attach to, obsess about and that disturbed me,” he says, adding, “And the things that I think our ego attaches to, we can put in proper perspective. That’s what age has given me.”
In 1982, Wagner moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting ambitions, and within two years, he landed his breakthrough role on General Hospital as Frisco Jones, a spy whose professional success contrasts with his romantic misfortunes. Reflecting on his experience on the soap opera during its early stages, he described it as unusual.
“It was crazy, because back then, people would join fan clubs, and there would be bags and bags of fan letters,” he recalls.
According to People, the frenzy served as a boost for Wagner’s burgeoning music career, and the singer subsequently released six albums and a Top 10 single, “All I Need” (which he performed in character on General Hospital before its success). “I would sell out concerts in an hour or two,” he reminisces.
If the Melrose Place alum harbors any regrets, it might revolve around not releasing the heartfelt ballad “Lady of My Heart,” co-written by David Foster, as his second single in 1985, opting instead for the more upbeat track “Premonition.”
“I didn’t want to be labeled a balladeer,” Wagner admits. “I wanted to be a rocker. I’m from Missouri. I love Southern Rock and Roll. And had I released that single, I would’ve probably had a follow-up number one record, because it was just a massive song that people still love to this day,” reported People.
