Holi, one of the eagerly-awaited days of the year, is finally here. The ‘Festival of Colours’ is synonymous with harmony, peace, love, happiness, and lip-smacking delicacies. Over the years, Bollywood has become home to several foot-tapping songs that capture the special occasion’s essence. so, here are a few Holi songs that should be a good addition to your playlist.

1. Badri Ki Dulhaniya (2017):

 

‘Badri Ki Dulhaniya’ from the 2017 Indian rom-com ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya’ is an energetic Holi dance number, featuring Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. It is sung by Dev Negi, Neha Kakkar, Monali Thakur and Ikka. The song is composed by Tanishk Bagchi with lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed.

 

2. Balam Pichkari (2013):

‘Balam Pichkari’ from the film ‘Ye Jawani Hai Deewani’ became a Holi sensation after its release in 2013. The song is composed by Pritam Chakraborty with Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics. It is sung by Shalmali Kholgade and Vishal Dadlani. The video features Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, and Aditya Roy Kapoor.

3. Madhubala (2011):

‘Madhubala’ from ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ makes it to the list for being one of the prominent modern day Holi songs with the desi beats of Dhol. The song is composed by Sohail Sen and is sung by Ali Zafar and Shweta Pandit. Its lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil. The song features Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar in a Holi at their livliest best.

4. Do Me A Favor (2005):

With catchy beats of disco, ‘Do Me A Favor (Let’s Play Holi)’ from the film ‘Waqt: The Race Against Time’ has been a part of Holi playlists for several years now. The song is sung by Anu Malik and Sunidhi Chauhan with lyrics from Sameer. The song has catchy beats and dynamic vocals which give a twist to the traditional Holi celebration. The music video features Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Amitabh Bachchan and Shefali Shah.

5. Holi Khele Raguveera (2003):

Sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan, the song was used in ‘Baghban’. The lyrics are penned by Sameer. Aadesh Shrivastava composed the song.. ‘Holi Khele Raguveera’ is one the most-played Holi songs from Big B after ‘Rang Barse’.

6. Jogi Ji Dheere Dheere (1982):

Holi is incomplete without the song ‘Jogi Ji Dheere Dheere’ from the film ‘Nadiya Ke Paar’, starring Sachin and Sadhna Singh. The song is sung by Jaspal Singh, Hemlata and Chandrani Mukherjee. Ravindra Jain is its music composer.

7. Rang Barse (1981):

‘Rang Barse’ is a popular 1981 Holi song from the movie ‘Silsila’. Sung by Amitabh Bachchan, the song is known to be one of the best folk songs of India. The lyrics were by the well-known poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan based on a traditional bhajan of the glorious poet ‘Meerabai’. The music director was Shiv-Hari, who was also a noted classical musician.

8. Holi Ke Din (1975):

 

‘Holi Ke Din’ from the movie ‘Sholay’ is sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. The song is written by Anand Bakshi and composed by R.D. Burman. It features Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan and Amjad Khan. The song set the stage for a key twist in the film.

9. Aaj Na Chorenge Humjoli (1971):

The song ‘Aaj Na Chorenge Humjoli’ from the film ‘Kati Patang’ is sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. It features Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh. Written by Anand Bakshi, the track is the brainchild of RD Burman.

10. Holi Aai Re Kanhaai (1957):

This Holi song was used in ‘Mother India’, which hit screens in 1957. ‘Holi Aai Re Kanhaai’ features Nargis, Sunil Dutt, Rajendra Kumar, and Raaj Kumar. It is sung by Shamshad Begum with lyrics from Shakeel Badayuni. Naushad Ali is its music director.
